This source is a article in the Black Scholar that is analyzing House Bill 2281 that was placed into effect in Arizona in 2010. This source also analyzes the role that large conservative groups have in education. The historical context of this source is the primary reaction to the implementation of House Bill 2281, as well as providing background information regarding Tom Horne, who was the one to propose the bill. Anne Morey wrote this article in hopes of shining light onto the discriminatory bill as well as share her opinion on what conservatives are doing to education.
This article reflects Morey’s point of view as she directly talks about how conservative groups do not care for the truth and instead want to justify their prejudices. The larger historical significance of this article is the forming of opinions in response to discriminatory bills conservatives are passing. This article is also able to mention how the political power of some people can show the exact inequalities in the US society.
